Estate Planning Attorney Elizabeth G. Blust

Your Guide to Estate Planning Administration and Business Succession Planning

Elizabeth G. Blust entered law school to become a real estate lawyer. Still, soon after passing the bar, she realized that her true calling was estate planning and administration. Planning and administration – whether through probate or trusts – can be confusing. Often, there is not a clear path that is “right,” or there may be many paths that will get the clients where they need to go. Most of her clients own real property, so Elizabeth has opportunities to draw upon her 10+ year career in real estate development as she helps her clients navigate the often baffling tangle of laws and forms.

Elizabeth earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law in San Diego and her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Dayton. It wasn't until she became an attorney that she put that journalism degree to work; Elizabeth was a member of the editorial board of San Diego Lawyer Magazine from 2008 to 2018 and wrote several award-winning articles. She is still a member of the San Diego Press Club.

While in college, Elizabeth worked in the International Studies office and spent a summer abroad, discovering a love of travel she now shares with her husband, Jim, and their two adult children. Elizabeth enjoys hiking, especially in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, and targets volcanic areas for her vacations, including Mt. Lassen, Calif.; Mt. Rainier, Wash.; Mt. Haleakala, Hawaii; Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland; and Thira, Greece. They also travel to see eclipses, including Side, Turkey, in 2006; Prineville, Oregon, in 2017; and Mazatlán, Mexico, in 2024.

Elizabeth was a Girl Scout leader for over ten years and served for two years as the Lead Membership Organizer for the Mission Trails Service Unit #620. She is a member of the California Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the Greater San Diego Business Association, the Probate Attorneys of San Diego, and the San Diego Press Club. She is a cantor at her church and sings soprano with the San Diego Festival Chorus. She has been a member of the chorus board for many years and has served as historian, president, and treasurer.

Ms. Blust serves estate planning clients primarily in San Diego County, but she is licensed to serve throughout California. For the probate or trust administration of a San Diego County resident or property owner, she can serve the client (i.e., the living executor or trustee) no matter where they live.
